What is IEMJEE 2026?
For students with a science background and aspiring engineers in India, the engineering college selection plays a vital role as it determines the future career graph of an individual. The country has an array of such colleges, more than 9000 roughly, hence, after the 12th exam it would be very crucial for the student to choose the right one that aligns with one's career goals. A right decision at this stage of your educational journey can open many doors to your future success.
If you are from Kolkata, WestBengal, you have probably heard of IEM (Institute of Engineering & Management) college and its entrance exam namely IEMJEE 2026 which is a gateway to achieve your engineering dream with premier quality of education.
Here in this blog, I am going to elaborate on the IEM entrance exam, IEM Kolkata admission process, IEM placements, IEM fees, and institutes accepting IEMJEE 2026.
IEMJEE 2026 is the IEM entrance exam to be conducted in the year 2026 for admission into B.Tech at IEM Salt Lake, IEM New Town, and IEM Jaipur. The exam has been underway since January 5, 2026, and will continue until February 28, 2026. The exam is held in both online and offline mode.
The IEMJEE 2026 test is the one that will be conducted by the IEM group for the B.Tech admission in the University of Engineering and Management (UEM) and the IEM group.
The desire for the aspiring engineering students to appear for the IEM entrance exam and get a seat to study B.Tech (Lateral) or B.Tech degree courses is the main reason to conduct the IEMJEE 2026 exam.
IEM Kolkata (Location Saltlake) is the main campus and it is one of the most desired campuses for engineering students in West Bengal. The campus offers “B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering”, “Information Technology”, “Mechanical Engineering”, “Electronics and Communication Engineering”, and B.Tech in “Mechanical Engineering” as undergraduate courses for IEM Kolkata admission.
A candidate’s IEMJEE 2026 score can also be a key to his/her getting an engineering degree from UEM campuses. The network of institutions under one umbrella offers students a great opportunity to study flexibly according to their preferred location and specialization.
The academic requirement for the IEMJEE 2026 exam is that students need to pass their 10+2 board exam with a minimum percentage of 45% in aggregate. The aspiring students must have PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Math) as their subject combination. For reserved category students the minimum percentage is 40% to appear for the IEMJEE 2026 exam.
Being one of the best engineering colleges in Kolkata, IEM ensures their entrance exam is tough and sound. For entering in the B.Tech courses, the IEM entrance exam follows the JEE Main pattern where students are asked 90 questions in total from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
The duration of the exam is 2 hours for online mode, and 3 hours for offline mode. Negative marking is also applicable in IEMJEE 2026 exam.
For B.Tech admission, the syllabus is more tough as it resembles the JEE Main pattern with negative marking system.
The procedure for registering for the IEMJEE 2026 test is exclusively through the internet. The first step for the premier candidates is to go to the official website, and then create an account by entering their personal information, and then candidates will have to fill up the form by providing their education details and selecting the exam center.
Nonetheless, the students will be able to update their personal information later on. Being a competitive admission process, IEM Kolkata demands students' utmost caution during the online form submission as a tiny mistake can lead to losing a seat. The IEMJEE 2026 exam application fee is determined by the student's category. Generally, the fee for a regular student is around 1000-1500 Indian Rupees. Payment options are UPI, credit card, debit card, and net banking.
The IEMJEE 2026 exam participants get to decide their preferred date and time slot during the application process, and these particulars cannot be altered later. Just like several other engineering colleges in Kolkata, IEM entrance exam slot-booking system also operates on ‘first-come-first-serve basis’, hence quick application grants students their chosen options.
When the registration closes, admit cards will be made available on the official site. The IEMJEE 2026 exam admit card can be downloaded by the students while they are submitting the online application form, as this process is very straightforward. To get the admit card, the individual has to click on the "Download Hall Ticket" link on the official site and after providing the needed details, the admit card will be accessible to the individual for download.
Passing the IEM entrance exam is the beginning of a student’s engineering career, but knowing the entire admission process gives students an advantage and helps them to get the seat in their preferred college or branch.
The results of the IEM entrance exam are announced within one week. The scores obtained by the candidates are the basis for the preparation of the merit list by the exam authority. Students are ranked according to this list and seats are allocated. The institution also puts out separate category-wise merit lists for the reserved candidates.
Once the merit list is published, the institution then draws the eligible students to attend the counselling rounds. The procedure takes place in both online and offline modes and during this period students are obliged to present their original documents for the purpose of verification. Verification of documents is done with transfer certificate, category certificate, migration certificate, marksheets and valid ID proofs being the major documents.
The seat allotment is done after the counselling rounds according to a student’s rank, the availability of his/her preferred branch and seats. For IEM Kolkata admission, the entire counselling and seat allotment process is 2-3 weeks after the result declaration.
The talk now shifts to IEM fees. A B.Tech (4-years) course at IEM Kolkata would cost about 1.5 lakhs to 2 lakhs annually. However, streams such as computer science may have slightly higher IEM fees.
The hostel expense at IEM Kolkata is approximately between Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 1.2 lakhs per annum. But the mess charges for food are around Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 per year. The hostel IEM fees consist of only the accommodation charges.
The high profile IEM placements are one of the main factors that make students think about taking up this college over other engineering colleges in Kolkata. The institute has a placement legacy of 30 years and IEM placements do not stop till the last student of a batch is placed.
Internships are available for IEM students from companies like N.F. Railway, NTPC Ltd, Damodar Valley Corporation, and WBSETCL. IEM placements are not confined to Indian companies, but also to international ones. The Telegraph has awarded the IEM group of colleges the title of “Jewel of the East” owing to their varied recruitment pool.
Class 12 students who are simultaneously preparing for JEE Mains should appear for IEMJEE 2026. The syllabus of these 2 exams are aligned therefore one preparation can help you crack the other exam as well. If a student is taking a drop-year after 12th board exam and preparing solely for JEE Mains must definitely appear in IEMJEE 2026.
Apart from IEMJEE 2026, the next best option is JEE Mains. Students should also apply for the “West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination” (WBJEE).
IEMJEE 2026 is one of the biggest exams of the year that IEM is conducting to make your dreams of being an engineer come true. The whole process from taking the IEMJEE 2026 exam to being a successful engineer will need full commitment, good decision making, and proper preparation.
This entrance exam will not only evaluate your knowledge but will also be a chance for you to get a good future.
