NEET UG 2026 DOCUMENT UPDATE ADVISORY BY NTA (AADHAAR, CATEGORY, UDID)

The NTA Advisory about the document update

17 May 2026 Created by Admin

If you think that studying only Physics, Chemistry, and Biology will secure you an MBBS seat, you are probably wrong! Getting an MBBS seat in your preferred medical college is also about process accuracy. The “National Testing Agency” (NTA) has issued an official advisory for NEET 2026 aspirants to update and verify all essential documents before filling out their NEET application form. If the details filled in by the students are outdated or incorrect, it can cost them a year. Application errors can cause rejection of candidates due to verification issues; therefore, you need to ensure that your NEET documents are clean.

The NTA Advisory about the document update

Before application, students must ensure that all of their NEET documents are consistent and updated across Aadhaar, Category certificate, and UDID. If  your documents are incorrect, it will hamper your preparation at the worst time. Therefore, NTA is focusing on this matter so that students and their parents do not face verification failure or counselling objections later.

  • Aadhaar Card is mandatory for all candidates. A candidate must check his/her name, Gender, Date of Birth, address, and photograph before filling the application form.

  • Category certificates, such as SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS, must be valid, and they should be issued as per the latest rules. Invalid and outdated category certificates can directly affect a candidate’s reservation benefits, and thus can hamper their seat-allocation choice.

  • UDID cards must be checked by the PwD candidates. Outdated or incorrect UDID cards can create issues for the candidates during the counselling process, and hence should be renewed and updated before filling out the application form.

Why is document correction important?

Candidates may think NEET document mismatch is not a big issue, but in reality, it can hamper their careers. Correction windows are given a very short span of time. In that limited time, candidates often face heavy traffic in the correction portal. It hampers the process. Therefore, you must keep all your valid documents handy before completing the application form. If your category certificates or UDID cards are outdated or incorrect, you might not get reservation benefits during the counselling process. It can also lead to the issue that you might lose a seat this year because you might not be able to clear the cut-off marks without your reservation benefits. Mismatch in NEET documents also causes unavoidable delays in the process, which might hamper your study momentum.

What do you need to check now?

  • The first thing that you need to do is compare your Aadhaar card name and Date of Birth with your Class 10 certificate.

  • If you see any spelling differences in the name, fix them as early as possible.

  • Update your Aadhaar card photo with a recent photo.

  • Confirm your UDID has not expired, and its details must match your other documents.

  • Last year’s category certificate will not work this year because the medical counselling process is very strict. Therefore, you must update it as per the current norms.

  • Create a NEET document folder and put all your NEET 2026 valid documents there, along with your photo and signature copy.
